Gov’t, BARMM ink pact to hasten Marawi rehab

National government agencies and the Bangsamoro government signed several agreements on Friday to accelerate rehabilitation in Marawi City. The signing took place at Camp Ranao and was attended by six Cabinet secretaries.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and BARMM signed a memorandum of agreement for the repair of the Access Bridge in Norsalam Village. Another deal between the DPWH, BARMM, and Department of Education covers school ancillary facility construction.

A separate agreement was signed between the National Housing Authority and BARMM for the “Building Better Marawi – Livable and Accessible Marawi Housing” program. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources also partnered with BARMM to promote aquaculture development.

The Philippine Ports Authority officially turned over Marawi port facilities to BARMM. Other commitments include providing school equipment, ensuring power supply to the city hospital, and completing hospital operations support.

The Department of Health also turned over 42 ambulances to strengthen Marawi’s emergency medical services. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier cited visible progress in infrastructure rehabilitation during his June 23 visit to the city.
