The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring three low pressure areas (LPA) on Thursday, including a remnant of cyclone ‘Bising,’ which continue to affect weather conditions in the country this week.
In a late morning weather bulletin, PAGASA said one of the LPAs is already within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). It was located about 790 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes as of 8:00 a.m. on Thursday with a low chance of developing into a tropical depression.
The LPA outside PAR, meanwhile, is likely to evolve into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours. It was last monitored based on available data at 2,070 kms east of extreme northern Luzon.
The remnant of ‘Bising,’ known internationally as ‘Danas,’ was located 475 km northwest of Itbayat, Batanes. It is also unlikely to gather strength, according to PAGASA, but forecasters keep an eye on it nonetheless.
PAGASA warned of occasional rains triggered by the southwest monsoon or ‘habagat’ in Metro Manila, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Occidental Mindoro, and Antique.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, meanwhile, were forecast in other areas of Luzon and even parts of Visayas and Mindanao.
