Vice President Sara Duterte has appointed former Trade Undersecretary Ruth Castelo as her new spokesperson, replacing Michael Poa, who resigned late last year.
“Effective July 9, 2025, Atty. Ruth B. Castelo shall be the official Spokesperson of the Office of the Vice President,” the OVP said in a statement Wednesday.

Castelo served as the undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry from 2018 to 2023.
Poa, on the other hand, is one of the lawyers set to appear in the impeachment proceedings against the Vice President.
Duterte is currently at The Hague, where she will stay until July 23.
