VP Sara back in The Hague for 2-week visit

Vice President Sara Duterte returned to The Hague, Netherlands, where she will stay until July 23, according to former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

Roque shared on social media that the Vice President went back to the Netherlands to update Filipinos, especially her supporters and followers, on the status of her detained father, former president Rodrigo Duterte.

Roque mentioned that the former president, who has lost a significant amount of weight, was in a good mood during his daughter’s visit. Rodrigo conveyed a simple message through Sara, referring to his administration’s drug war: “I did what I had to do for my country, and I have no regrets.”

Sara, who arrived in the Netherlands on Sunday, expressed her gratitude to the Filipino people. She acknowledged their concerns and frustrations regarding her father’s crimes against humanity case at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

According to Roque, Sara also commented on the budget hearing for the Office of the Vice President (OVP) in Congress and the impeachment efforts against her, which she described as a “witch hunt.”

“VP Sara believes that the Senate should prioritize the validity of the impeachment complaint and the crossover of the trial from the 19th Congress to the 20th Congress,” Roque said.

The former presidential spokesperson also confirmed that the Vice President will not attend President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA), as she will be traveling to South Korea to meet with the Filipino community there.
