PNP partners with NIA to secure government irrigation projects

The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Undertaking (MOU) during a flag-raising ceremony held Monday morning at the PNP Grandstand in Camp Crame.

PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III, signed the MOU on behalf of the police force alongside Deputy Chief for Administration Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., and Chief of the Directorate for Police Community Relations Maj. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba.

Representing the NIA was its Administrator Eduardo “Eddie” Guillen, who also served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker for the ceremony.

The MOU aims to strengthen collaboration between the two agencies in ensuring the smooth and secure implementation of irrigation projects across the country, particularly in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) and regions facing peace and order challenges.

Under this partnership, the PNP, will work closely with NIA and local government units to provide area security, mobilize communities to support and safeguard project sites, and offer assistance in securing ongoing project implementation.

Close coordination with NIA regional offices and other stakeholders will also be maintained to help address concerns and promote the successful rollout of irrigation initiatives.

This collaboration reflects the PNP’s continuing role not only in maintaining peace and order but also in actively supporting national development programs that uplift the lives of Filipinos, especially in rural and underserved communities.
