The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said a low pressure area (LPA) being monitored within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is expected to cause between 50 to 200 mm of rainfall from Friday through the weekend.
The LPA was last observed northeast of the coastal waters of Sabtang, Batanes, at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
It has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to the state weather bureau.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will continue to prevail over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Batanes, and Cagayan due to the LPA.
These areas are also prone to possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will likewise bring occasional rains in Metro Manila, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region.
