Yuchengco-led PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC) and ISUZU Autoparts Manufacturing Corp. (IAMC) officially switched on a 3.002-megawatt peak (MWp) solar rooftop power facility on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in Laguna Technopark, Biñan.
IAMC and PGEC signed an agreement on June 23, 2024, to install the 3.002 MWp solar rooftop power facility. It consists of 4,289 units of 700 Wp Trina solar panels and 19 units of Huawei 100/150kW string inverters.
The solar installation, which included roof refurbishment and minor roof reinforcement, was completed in seven months from the start of site work.
PGEC’s EPC contractor, Fravinz Enterprises, Inc., erected the facility over IAMC’s four main manufacturing buildings.
Francisco Delfin Jr., PGEC president and chief executive, stated that the IAMC rooftop solar facility can supply 20 percent of its annual power needs, enhancing energy security and contributing to the Department of Energy’s goals for energy resiliency and affordability.
“It can reduce carbon emissions by an average of around 3,000 tons of CO2 equivalent annually, supporting Isuzu’s corporate environmental vision,” Delfin said.
“PGEC looks forward to partnering with other locators and industries for a collective action towards energy security, lower power costs, and a better business environment for the country.”
This project marks a significant step in the Philippine manufacturing sector’s transition to clean energy.
“This solar rooftop project underscores our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing sustainable manufacturing practices consistent with Isuzu’s Environmental Vision 2050, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the Philippines’ Ambisyon Natin 2040,” said Takashi Ishikawa, IAMC president.
“By harnessing renewable energy, we are not only lowering operational costs and improving efficiency but most importantly contributing to a cleaner environment for future generations,” he said.
“This project is also an important milestone as the IAMC Laguna plant is only the third Isuzu manufacturing unit in Southeast Asia installed with an own-use rooftop solar facility.”
IAMC, a leading automotive parts manufacturer and a subsidiary of ISUZU Motors Limited, Japan, is known for its high-quality components and commitment to innovation and sustainable eco-conscious manufacturing practices.
Alejo Macaraeg, PEZA CALABARZON deputy zone administrator, expressed pride in partnering with forward-thinking companies that champion innovation, economic progress and environmental sustainability.
“We are honored to stand with you in celebration of this significant milestone, the switch-on of the IAMC rooftop solar facility, the biggest such installation to date in Laguna Technopark Ecozone,” Macaraeg said.
