Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego shared the grief and expressed full support for the families of the victims in a road accident in Barangay Guimbala-on.
Initial reports revealed that seven people died and 17 were injured after the dump truck they were riding tilted and crashed in Sitio Lantawan. The victims were en route to participate in a tree-planting activity when tragedy struck.
The mayor said the city government are now coordinating with the local police, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the City Health Office, and other concerned agencies to provide necessary assistance to the victims and their families.
He also vowed a thorough and impartial investigation to determine the cause of the accident and ensure that similar tragedies will be prevented in the future.
