The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday afternoon reported that it is monitoring a new low pressure area (LPA) in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
According to the state weather bureau, “LPA 06b” has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

It was last estimated based on all available data 600 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora.
The LPA would be given the local name “Auring” if it develops into a tropical depression as the country’s first tropical cyclone this year.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm “Wutip” is being monitored outside the PAR.
PAGASA has since advised citizens to monitor its updates.
