JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Wednesday revealed that Malaysia refused to disclose the whereabouts of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo last year.
Earlier reports stated that most likely, Guo travelled either by boat or a private plane to Malaysia before proceeding to other countries.
“The case of Alice Guo is a very peculiar case because Malaysia refused to cooperate with us. Malaysia is supposed to give us the information. They know what flight entered, what aircraft entered, where she was riding but she refused to give it to us,” said Remulla.
He expressed confidence that the Senator Risa Hontiveros would understand the dilemma of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) pertaining to Guo’s case. Hontiveros, chair of the Committee on Justice and Human Rights, is asking for explanations about Guo’s escape to Malaysia.
The committee is conducting hearings on Guo’s alleged involvement in criminal activities of the banned Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in the country.
