The death toll from the recent cyclones Nika (Toraji), Ofel (Usagi), and Pepito (Man-yi) climbed to 12, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
However, the latest report indicates that only five fatalities have been officially validated so far.
The reported deaths occurred in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), Region 3 (Central Luzon), and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Additionally, the NDRRMC recorded 16 injuries and four individuals reported missing due to the impacts of the cyclones.
These disasters have affected approximately 3.5 million people, equivalent to over 930,000 families, across Regions 1 (Ilocos), 2, 3, 4A (Calabarzon), 4B (Mimaropa), 5 (Bicol), and CAR.
Of these individuals, 300,953 are currently housed in 2,331 evacuation centers nationwide, while 128,899 have sought refuge elsewhere.
As of November 21, a total of 29 cities have been placed under a state of calamity, and relief efforts are ongoing. The NDRRMC has reported that P226.78 million worth of assistance has already been distributed to address the needs of those affected.
