The Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (PCCCII), in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines and the Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce Batangas Chapter, donated 6,000 bags of rice to communities in Batangas that were affected by typhoon Kristine.
The initiative was led by PCCCII president Hou Shi Lian, along with Batangas Chapter president Hong Shao Wei, who worked closely with local government officials to ensure the efficient delivery of aid to those in need.
The relief effort took place on Nov. 3 and 4 in various locations across Batangas.
City councilors and barangay officials took charge of the distribution in Barangay Balite in San Luis town, while Mayor Ian Alilio and his team facilitated the handout in Barangay Tuibigan in Lemery.
Nasugbu Mayor Antonio Jose Barcelon’s daughter accepted the rice at the city center’s pavilion, while Vice Mayor Ronin Leviste oversaw the distribution at the Barangay Matabungkay covered court in Lian.
On Nov. 4, the relief team delivered 1,000 bags to Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas, who organized the further distribution from the Bolbok Sports Center.
Bauan municapality received 500 bags, which were handed over to Mayor Ryanh Dolor. Batangas City Mayor Beverly Rose Dimacuha received 1,000 bags for Barangay Sampaga.
Mayors Wilson Maralit of Balete, Nestor Natanuan of Talisay and Lyndon Bruce of Laurel each received 500 bags for their respective towns.
The collaboration among the organizations and local leaders underscored their strong commitment to supporting communities during times of crisis.
