American electric vehicle company Tesla Inc. opened its flagship showroom at the Uptown Mall in Taguig City and brought two of its more popular EV units tailored for the Philippine market.
Tesla introduced the Model 3 and Model Y, positioned to be the best option for Filipino drivers looking for high-performance, eco-friendly vehicles. Model 3, the world’s best-selling electric sedan, has a starting price of P2.1 million, while the versatile Model Y begins at P2.36 million.
Tesla regional director Isabel Fan said the company is committed to offering customized vehicles for the Philippines to meet the needs of local customers.
The personalized approach, she said, aligns with Tesla’s strategy of adapting its products and services to each market, ensuring an optimal ownership experience.
“We’re not a typical company. As we see fit, we try to customize and adapt to the preferences unique to each market,” she said during the launch Friday.
The global leader in EVs expanded into its 50th country, adding the Philippines to its growing list of global markets.
The launch of Tesla’s flagship showroom and experience center was made possible through a partnership with Megaworld Real Estate Investment Trust (MREIT).
MREIT president Kevin Tan said the lease agreement for the flagship showroom and service center was finalized in just two months, despite the rapid timeline. Tesla, which traditionally operates independently in each market, worked directly with MREIT to establish its presence in the Philippines.
“Tesla always comes alone, on their own in any country. We’re thrilled to have them as part of our mall network. We’ve been working with Tesla since May this year, and we were able to finalize the deal quickly. This flagship showroom is just the beginning, and we’re looking forward to supporting Tesla’s growth in the Philippines with more supercharging stations at all 25 of our malls,” he said.
Tesla operates over 6,000 supercharging stations in 50 countries and more than 57,000 superchargers globally.
Its first indoor supercharging station in the Philippines was set up at the Uptown Mall, featuring four superchargers.
Tan said more charging stations would be deployed as Tesla and MREIT signed a separate lease agreement for the supercharging stations.
