President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. congratulated Donald Trump on his nearing return to the White House as the US presidential election approaches its conclusion.
In a statement, the President expressed enthusiasm for continued collaboration with the United States under Trump’s leadership, emphasizing the deep ties, shared beliefs, and common vision that unite the two countries.
“We look forward to working with President Trump on a wide range of issues that will yield mutual benefits to two nations with deep ties, shared beliefs, common vision, and a long history of working together,” Mr. Marcos said.
The Chief Executive called the US-Philippine alliance “unshakeable,” describing it as a partnership tested in both war and peace.
“This is a durable partnership the Philippines is fully committed to because it is founded on the ideals we share: freedom and democracy,” Marcos said.
He expressed hope that the partnership will continue to promote prosperity and peace on both sides of the Pacific.
Reflecting on a previous encounter with Trump during his youth, the President expressed confidence in Trump’s leadership, stating it would “result in a better future for all of us.”
“Congratulations, President Trump!” Marcos said.
Trump is poised to win the US presidential election pitting against US Vice President Kamala Harris after sealing victories in various swing states, securing electoral votes to win the presidency.
Trump, who also ran in his 2020 reelection bid and lost to current President Joe Biden, is still facing legal charges and was the first former US president in history to be criminally convicted. Despite the unprecedented legal baggage, Trump continues to garner support from his diehard American supporters.
