Driver who tried to run over traffic enforcer, used fake protocol plate says sorry

The identity of the driver and owner of a vehicle displaying a protocol plate reserved for senators has been revealed.

The registered owner is Orient Pacific Corporation, not a senator, as confirmed by the company’s director, Omar Guinomla.

Guinomla issued a formal apology on behalf of the corporation which is currently investigating how it acquired the protocol plate and will fully cooperate with authorities during this inquiry.

The driver, identified as 52-year-old Angelito Edpan, has been employed as a company driver at Orient Pacific Corporation for nearly two years.

A viral video captured Edpan’s SUV reversing in a lane exclusively designated for buses and emergency vehicles on Edsa in Makati City last Sunday.

Before fleeing the scene, he nearly struck a traffic enforcer who had flagged him down for misusing the bus lane, raising concerns about road safety.

In a statement, Edpan expressed deep remorse for his actions, stating he did not intend to harm the enforcer who attempted to stop him.
