Typhoon “Leon” (international name: Kong Rey) has weakened into severe tropical storm status and exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau said.
PAGASA has issued no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) and the weather disturbance continues to move northward at 20 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 140 kilometers per hour.
Its center was last estimated at 550 km north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.
In a 5 AM advisory, PAGASA reported that Severe Tropical Storm “Leon” is now outside PAR and is heading towards the East China Sea, expected to further weaken throughout the forecast period due to unfavorable environmental conditions.
