“Firefly” will be screened at the 31st KINEKO International Film Festival in Tokyo, running from Oct. 31 to Nov. 5, alongside director Janelle Basallo’s film “Dahon.”
In a Facebook post, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) expressed hope that these two films will inspire young audiences in Japan and motivate filmmakers in the Philippines.

“We hope these two impactful Filipino films will inspire young audiences in Japan and motivate filmmakers in the Philippines,” the statement read.
Firefly stars child actor Euwenn Mikaell and award-winning actress Alessandra de Rossi.
Based on an original story by GMA Public Affairs Senior AVP Angeli Atienza, the film was directed by Zig Dulay.
