Alpas Pinas, a non-profit group advocating for nuclear energy as a clean, sustainable power source, engaged young attendees at Komiket 2024. Held from Oct. 12 to 13, the event aimed to promote awareness on nuclear energy’s role in the country’s future energy landscape.
Held annually, Komiket brings together creators across the arts—from handmade toy makers to komiks artists—and provides a unique space to foster creativity and community. Alpas Pinas used this platform to connect with youth, sharing information on nuclear energy alongside distributing specially designed stickers created by young artists supporting the cause.
“This is our way of connecting with the younger generation in a space where they are at their best,” said Gayle Certeza, lead convenor of Alpas Pinas. “We believe the youth play a crucial role in shaping future energy policies, and it is essential to involve them in discussions on nuclear energy’s potential to transform the country’s power sector.”
Alpas Pinas plans to continue outreach efforts aimed at raising awareness of nuclear energy’s potential as a source of clean, affordable, and stable power for the Philippines.
