Conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC) and Ayala Greenfield Development Corp. (AGDC) broke ground on the Ayala Greenfield Interchange, an important project aimed at improving travel and boosting economic growth in Southern Luzon.
The new interchange will connect the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) Toll Road 3 to local roads, improving access to SLEX and the STAR Tollway.
This will help reduce traffic congestion and make travel smoother between SLEX and Sto. Tomas, Batangas.
“We are proud to partner with Ayala on this project. This is part of SMC Infrastructure’s larger initiative to improve and expand our southern tollways network, particularly the South Luzon Expressway,” said SMC chairman Ramon Ang.
The interchange is located strategically on the TR3 section of SLEX, making it a vital link between Metro Manila and Southern Luzon, which will stimulate economic activity in the area.
Once SLEX Toll Road 4 is completed, travel time between Sto. Tomas and Lucena will drop from three hours to just 45 minutes.
The interchange will offer direct access to Ayala Greenfield Estates, a project of Ayala Land Premier known for its sustainable living environments and amenities, including the Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Club.
The interchange will benefit local residents by reducing travel times and providing better access to major urban centers such as Metro Manila, Alabang and Nuvali.
“We are not simply breaking ground on a new infrastructure project; we are laying the foundation for enhanced connectivity and growth,” said Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala.
AGDC is developing the Ayala Greenfield Estates, a 550-hectare residential community in Calamba, Laguna.
The groundbreaking ceremony featured Ang, Zobel de Ayala and AGDC chairman Joselito Campos Jr.
They were joined by key government officials, including Department of Transportation Undersecretary Andy Ortega, Public Works and Highways director Pelita Galvez and Calamba City Mayor Ross Rizal, highlighting the project’s significance for regional development.
