Ateneo tops uni rankings anew—THE

The Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) has once again secured its position as the Philippines’ top university in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2025. The Jesuit-run institution maintained its rank in the 1,001-1,200 bracket.

“The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is global recognition of Ateneo de Manila’s performance,” said university president Fr. Roberto Yap SJ. “However, rankings do not fully define what Ateneo stands for.”

Six other Philippine universities were included in the rankings. The state-run University of the Philippines maintained its position in the 1,201-1,500 bracket. De La Salle University, University of Santo Tomas, Mapua University, and newcomer Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology tied for third in the 1,501+ bracket.

Fifteen other Philippine schools were given “reporter” status, meaning they provided data but did not meet THE’s eligibility criteria.

THE used 18 performance indicators to assess universities across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry. The methodology is based on millions of citations, publications, and survey responses. Only universities with undergraduate programs and at least 1,000 relevant publications were eligible for inclusion.
