The Bureau of Customs-Port of Manila (BOC-POM), in partnership with the Federation of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) held its 5th Customs Industry and Consultative Advisory Council (CICAC) meeting on Sept. 24, 2024 in Binondo, Manila.
Dr. Cecilio K. Pedro, president of FFCCCII, welcomed participants and expressed strong support for the bureau’s initiatives.
The meeting featured updates from deputy collectors Florante Ricarte and Julito Doria, who discussed recent advancements in port operations, particularly regarding the ATA Carnet system and the district’s positive collection performance.
The ATA Carnet refers to the temporary admission papers used for the temporary admission of goods, excluding means of transport. The system allows the free movement of goods across frontiers and their temporary admission into a customs territory with relief from duties and taxes.
District collector Rizalino Jose Torralba acknowledged FFCCCII’s efforts in hosting the meeting and thanked all stakeholders for their contributions to the port’s success.
Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio emphasized BOC-POM’s commitment to ongoing collaboration with trade partners, aiming to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency for the public.
The meeting reinforced the importance of cooperation between customs and the business community in fostering a thriving trade environment.
