Manila Chinatown Lions Club brings joy to nursing home

The Manila Chinatown Lions Club, led by newly-elected chairman Wang Chi Ying and honorary chairman Xu Shu Luo, visited the Philippine Overseas Chinese Nursing Home on Sept. 29, 2024 in celebration of the Chong Yang Festival.

The event aimed to connect with the elderly residents and foster community spirit during the festival, which honors seniors and family bonds.

The nursing home is affiliated with the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association Inc. (PCCSI).

PCCSI director Chen Shen Xiu, Lu Jian Ting and other staff welcomed the club during its visit.

Club members toured the nursing home facilities and engaged in friendly conversations with the elders.

They shared the traditions of both the Chong Yang and Mid-Autumn Festivals, emphasizing themes of gratitude and appreciation for nature and loved ones.

The club donated essential items, including milk powder, oatmeal, blankets, fruits and washing products, along with moon cakes for each elderly.

Chairman Wang Chi Ying also made a donation of P30,000 to help support the nursing home’s operations.
