President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. proclaimed two new economic zones, revitalizing the economic landscape in Cavite province.
Proclamation No. 669 expands the existing Gateway Business Park by an additional 2,898 square meters, allowing for a new metalwork company to set up shop and contribute to the region’s industrial growth.
The P380-million expansion highlighted the government’s commitment to investing in infrastructure that attracts businesses and creates jobs.
The Gateway Business Park was home to 28 companies as of June 2024, generating about $430 million in exports and providing employment to over 29,000 Filipino workers.
Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 677 establishes the brand-new NDC Industrial Estate, spanning over 191,000 square meters.
The P343-million project has three locators to set up soap and detergent production, renewable energy and electronics manufacturing. Both economic zones are located in General Trias, Cavite.
PEZA director-general Tereso Panga said the new developments are crucial in attracting investments, generating high-value jobs, and fostering industrial growth.
“The expansion of Gateway Business Park and the creation of NDC Industrial Estate are crucial steps in boosting economic activity in the region. These projects attract more investments and generate high-value jobs for Filipinos. In the long run, this will significantly contribute to the country’s industrial development and our goal of becoming a regional hub for manufacturing and innovation,” he said.
