Rainy weekend in parts of Luzon due to LPA, ‘habagat’—PAGASA

A low pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Northern Luzon will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms in Batanes and Babuyan Islands over the weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday.

The southwest monsoon or “hanging habagat,” meanwhile, will continue to bring occasional to frequent rains across the Ilocos region, Zambales and Bataan.

Weather forecast in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the rest of the archipelago will be partly cloudy to cloudy with possibilities of localized rainshowers or thunderstorms.

By Monday, September 23, PAGASA projects the LPA to move generally northwestward and away from the country. Its influence on the southwest monsoon may also weaken.

Ilocos region may experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

From Tuesday until Friday (September 24 to 27), the whole archipelago will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of localized rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, according to PAGASA.
