Detained former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, Mayor Liseldo Calugay of Sual, Pangasinan and former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog make their first appearance Thursday at the Joint Public of the House Quad Committee.
They were invited to shed light on the House of Representatives’ congressional inquiry into pressing issues related to illegal drugs and its connection to the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) activities.
Guo was introduced as representative of Baofu Land Development, Inc., the POGO hub raided in Bamban. She was seated next to Cassandra Li Ong and Ronelyn Baterna of Lucky South 99, the online gambling site that was shut down in Porac, Pampanga.
Mabilog was invited as a resource person in the previous Quad Comm hearings. He thanked the lawmakers for the opportunity to speak. He reiterated his denial to allegations that he was a drug protector during his leadership in Iloilo City.
He pointed out that in the six years he served as mayor of the Iloilo capital, the city received consistent recognitions from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other relevant government organizations for their anti-narcotics efforts.
Mabilog was tagged by former President Rodrigo Duterte in his so-called ‘narco list’ during his brutal drug war, which, according to Mabilog, became a ‘hit list.’ He said this prompted him to go on a self-imposed exile for years.
