DPWH completes two infra projects in Marinduque

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a flood mitigation project and a farm-to-market road (FMR) that fortifies community resilience and props up the local economy in the towns of Boac and Gasan in Marinduque.

DPWH Marinduque district engineer Richard Emmanuel Ragragio identified the two projects worth P9.5 million, as the 88-lineal meter flood control structure strategically built in Barangay Bachao Ibaba in Gasan.

“The newly completed river wall is a significant measure in establishing a sustainable and resilient infrastructure that will protect residents from the threat of flooding and water overflowing to their properties, livestock, and essential resources,” Ragragio said.

Additionally, the farm-to-market road built along an agricultural community in Boac that facilitates transport of local products to the market centers in neighboring towns.

The 279-lmeter road in Barangay Duyay included the construction of concrete pavement on both sides, with a canal and stone masonry to ensure durability and resilience against adverse weather conditions.

Implemented by DPWH Marinduque district office, the two projects were funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023 amounting to P4.9 million and P4.6 million, respectively.
