Several people were hurt due to a gas leak explosion near the CAL Courtyard Building in Barangay Pinaric in Legazpi City.
The injured include Fr. Luigi de Giambattista, a parish missioner of Sagrada Familia in Barangay Bogtong, and thirty-one others including a pregnant woman.
Authorities said the explosion was caused by a leak in a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The explosion damaged the ceiling and roll-up doors of the building, according to P/LtCol Ray Anthony Villanueva, acting police chief of Legazpi City Police Station (LCPS).
Villanueva said that a joint initial investigation with PNP SOCO and Albay Police Provincial Office revealed that the explosion occurred at around 11:30 in the morning of Saturday.

The city’s Quick Response Team and Bureau of Fire Protection immediately responded to bring the wounded to the nearest hospital. Authorities have also asked residents to pay no attention to social media reports which said that the explosion was caused by a terrorist bomb.
