Four Japanese manufacturing companies operating within the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) in Sto. Tomas, Batangas announced plans to hire over 1,400 new employees.
Brother Industries (Philippines) Inc., Canon Business Machines (Philippines) Inc., Ibiden (Philippines) Inc. and Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. are looking to fill a variety of positions including engineers, accountants, nurses, human resource personnel and other office-based workers.
The announcement was made during the recent “Sulong Buhay Job Fair,” a joint initiative by FPIP, the local government of Santo Tomas City and other stakeholders.
FPIP external relations manager John Carlo Navalta said 457 job applicants have already passed the initial screening process, leaving hundreds of positions still available.
Santo Tomas City Mayor Arth Jhun Aguilar Marasigan said the hiring initiative would boost local workforce and the attractiveness of FPIP as an investment destination.
“This is a great opportunity for our residents to find good jobs right here in our city,” he said.
The collaboration between FPIP, its locators and local educational institutions like the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) was highlighted as a key factor in the success of the job fair.
FPIP, a joint venture between First Philippine Holdings Corp. and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan, is a major economic driver in the region, providing employment for nearly 70,000 Filipinos.
