Marcos vows improved gov’t effort vs illegal POGOs, drugs in Pampanga

President Marcos on Friday vowed to implement a comprehensive government strategy to combat illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) and drug issues in Pampanga.

During a financial aid distribution event for El Niño-affected farmers and fisherfolk, President Marcos emphasized the government’s commitment to tackling these concerns.

“I know that you are also very concerned about the criminal activities and illegal actions that are disrupting the peace in your community. I want to let you know that we are focusing on and addressing this issue,” the President said.

He noted that the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has formed a task force to crack down on illegal POGOs, and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) is collaborating with other agencies to fight drug smuggling.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is leading the anti-drug efforts.

“We also hear your cries. We see your sacrifices. Your continued hard work every day is your help in building our dream of the New Philippines,” President Marcos said.

“We hope that you will wholeheartedly and continuously act so that you may enjoy the sweet fruit of your hard work,” he added.

Last month, authorities raided the illegal POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga, seizing hundreds of gadgets, documents, and SIM cards.

There are growing demands to ban POGOs in the country following recent raids on illegal hubs in Tarlac and Pampanga.
