Philippine Airlines (PAL) has announced that the Friday evening flight of PAL PR-102 from Manila to Los Angeles (LAX) was canceled due to a technical issue, leading to the deplaning of all 361 passengers.
The affected passengers waited for several hours for the flight replacement.
PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna confirmed the cancellation, stating that the flight was discontinued due to a technical issue, with all passengers safely deplaned and provided with hotel accommodations.
The technical issue was described as “tire deflation” with no injuries reported. Villaluna mentioned that a replacement flight to Los Angeles has been arranged to accommodate the affected passengers, scheduled to depart at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (July 6).
PAL apologized for the inconvenience caused by the incident. However, the Media Affairs Division (MAD) of Manila International Airport Authority stated that the plane bound for LAX was airborne at 3:08 p.m. and that no other flights were affected during the incident.
It added that MIAA’s fire and rescue unit, ground safety, and medical teams responded as per standard operating procedure, although there were no untoward incidents besides the aborted takeoff.
