Legit trike drivers in QC enjoy higher income

The daily income of legitimate tricycle drivers operating in several parts of Quezon City has increased by 50 percent as a result of the aggressive implementation of anti-colorum drive and no plate, no travel policy since July 1, according to the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

“This is another proof of how colorum vehicles have affected the income of our friends in the transport sector who are fighting the same. We at the LTO are happy that we have been able to provide a solution to our compatriot tricycle operators and drivers by implementing an aggressive campaign against tricycles that do not have laka and colorum,” LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said.

“You can count on a continuous operation —from day to night — so that we can correct the wrong work of colorum operators and protect the interests of more of our compatriot drivers and operators who are doing the right thing,” he added.

Citing information from members and leaders of the tricycle operators and drivers’ associations, the LTO said from the previous average of P800 daily income, the income of a tricycle driver operating in areas with malls went up to P1,200 in the past three days.
