CHED approves transnational education partnership between Mapua, Arizona State universities

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has approved the transnational higher education partnership between the Mapua University and Arizona State University (ASU) in the United States, enabling Filipino students to receive international schooling.

In a news release emailed late Tuesday, CHED said it has authorized the opening of five undergraduate courses jointly offered by Mapua and ASU beginning this academic year.

Mapua, being one of the country’s most competitive universities in the recent the Quacquarelli Symbols (QS) and Times Higher Education rankings, will accept students for the following degree programs:

·         Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Master of Global Management

·         Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Master of Leadership and Management

·         Bachelor of Science in Marketing – Bachelor of Science in Digital Audiences

·         Bachelor of Science in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics – Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Business Analytics Track

·         Bachelor of Science in Global Management – Bachelor of Science in International Trade

This means that in four years, students can acquire double degrees or can be guaranteed an advance entry into a master’s program in ASU through the flexible transnational higher education track.

“Through the Transnational Higher Education Law, we create another pathway for Filipino students to access and acquire international education in order to enhance their skills in specialized areas and competitiveness in the global field,” CHED Secretary Prospero De Vera said.

The partnership between the two universities was first launched in 2022 as part of Mapua’s DROID (digital, research-driven, outcomes-based, and international domain) strategy, which allows its students to do research and innovative learning for the global scale.

ASU is a public higher education institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and US Department of Education (USDE).

The partnership between Mapua and ASU aims to equip interested students with world-class training in international business, cross-cultural relations, global political economy, and regional business environments. –With Rolando Ng III
