R Coffee—the customized blend of Robinsons Hotels and Resorts – is something of a personal advocacy for the brand and its people.
“This is very dear to my heart. I had to drink almost a hundred cups of coffee to get the blend right,” said Barun Jolly, senior vice president and business unit general manager for RHR.
“Every day, when I walk to the office, I pass by at least eight coffee shops. But where is Filipino coffee? Where is the Filipino cafe?” he added.
It was ironic, Jolly said, given that Filipinos can hardly get enough of their coffee – 80 percent of Pinoys drink an average of 2.5 cups daily.
“Come here to R Coffee for a truly Filipino taste – strong yet not too bitter. This is our coffee,” he said.
The R Coffee blend is a combination of 80 percent Arabica and 20 percent Robusta beans, roasted to a medium level to bring out the inherent qualities of each bean. Arabica beans contribute sweetness, a delicate aroma and low acidity, while Robusta beans add boldness and chocolatey notes, creating a balanced and enjoyable cup.
This signature blend is now available across six RHR properties: Summit Hotel Greenhills, Grand Summit General Santos, Summit Ridge Tagaytay, Summit Galleria Cebu, Summit Hotel Naga, and Summit Hotel Tacloban.
Robinsons also launched exclusive R Coffee cups that feature modern interpretations of Maria Clara and Ibarra from Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere, depicting them as travelers exploring the beautiful islands of the Philippines.
Additionally, the coffee cart caters to individual guests seeking a great coffee experience, as well as groups hosting meetings, events and celebrations. Each cart’s design is tailored to its particular location – General Santos City with its famous tuna, Tacloban with its iconic bridge – showcasing local culture, landmarks and tourist attractions.
The blend is available in both hot – cappuccino, latte, Americano, espresso, café mocha and macchiato – as well as cold variants – affogato, cappuccino, iced latte, Shakerato and iced café mocha.
With each cup priced as low as P130, R Coffee also comes with a GCG or great coffee guarantee.
“If you are not satisfied, we will give you another cup until we satisfy your palate. So I invite you to try R Coffee as I am sure hindi kami mapapahiya. That’s the GCG confidence,” said Cecille Padilla, RHR Food and Beverage Director.
“This is affordable coffee that has consistent quality and is customized to the taste of Filipinos,” Jolly added.
