BGYO members—Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate—have filed cyber libel and unjust vexation complaints against individuals spreading false rumors about them. The complaints were lodged on Wednesday, June 19, at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
According to a report by TV Patrol, the legal action stems from accusations of bullying, cheating, and drug use made against the boy group. However, details about the accused individuals are not yet available.
The filing of charges follows the warning issued in April by BGYO and BINI’s lawyer, Atty. Joji Alonso.
Alonso stated that Star Magic would pursue legal action against those spreading “unfounded rumors” about both groups.
“Filing of criminal cases will be set in motion. Again, we remind the public that it is not only crucial to call out acts of bashing and cyberbullying, but to show kindness and accord everyone due respect, both online and in real life,” the statement read.
The warning came after a video circulated online showing BINI members—Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, and Maloi—dancing to their hit song “Pantropiko” at what appeared to be a birthday celebration for BGYO member Gelo.
The video sparked online controversy as some fans, citing past allegations of cheating and assault, disapproved of the BINI members’ presence.
Atty. Alonso previously urged the public to “call out acts of bashing and cyberbullying” while promoting online kindness and respect.
