Aboitiz Construction and Aboitiz Foundation teamed up to celebrate Philippine Environment Month by unveiling a brand-new Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for Barangay Bagong Pook in Malvar, Batangas, on June 5, 2024.
The state-of-the-art MRF is designed to be the central hub for all waste management activities in the barangay, from waste collection, sorting, and recycling.
“This MRF that we built is a way for us to express our continued trust in your ability to care for and value nature. May this serve as inspiration for all of us to be more mindful and diligent in fulfilling our duties as stewards of our environment,” said Aboitiz Construction project director Kervy Datay.
Sustainability is a core principle behind the MRF’s design. Aboitiz Construction’s skilled team built the facility using long-lasting materials and incorporated solar panels to power its operations, minimizing its environmental footprint.
“The success of this MRF depends on our collective effort. By embracing recycling and proper waste disposal, each of us can make a significant impact on our environment and set an example for future generations,” Aboitiz Group chief reputation and sustainability officer and Aboitiz Foundation president Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar said.
The new MRF will not only benefit the community but also help Barangay Bagong Pook comply with Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act. other communities they serve.
