Remulla: P10m prize to prove POGO ties

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla said he is ready to give a P10-million reward to anyone who can prove his ties with Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs).

Remulla also denied “insinuations” that he and his family have been “protectors” of the business linked to several illegal activities in the Philippines.

Social media posts, which have gone viral, have linked the Remulla family to POGO operations after Island Cove — the clan’s former resort property in Cavite — was sold to a Filipino-Chinese businessman, who then reportedly converted the property into an alleged POGO hub.

“The Remulla family has never been involved in gambling or any illegal activity,” he said.

“I am ready to give a P10 million reward to anyone who can prove that we are still involved in the current operation in Island Cove… or that my office or the Department of Justice gave them any protection, or that any of my family signed the necessary permit for the operation of POGO island,” Remulla said.

DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla is a brother of the governor.

Former Rep. Gilbert Remulla — another Remulla sibling — was named as director of the Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) in 2022.

The governor said his brother has nothing to do with the POGO permits issued in 2020.

The opening of the 32-hectare POGO complex in Cavite sparked concerns about what some called a “creeping” Chinese invasion as the former leisure destination reportedly housed between 20,000 and 50,000 Chinese workers.

Remulla said his family no longer owns the property, which they acquired in 1970 through Remulla’s deceased father, lawyer Johnny Remulla.

The governor said the family sold the property in 2018.
