Singer-actor Gerald Santos is making a return to the live concert scene with his latest show, Grateful, set to be staged at the Music Museum on June 29, his first concert since 2019 when he performed at Resorts World Manila.

In the intervening years, Santos has been busy with major theater projects, both before and during the pandemic. Now, he is excited to return to his pop roots.

The concert will feature special guests, including Pinoy music icons Ogie Alcasid and Rey Valera, as well as Rita Daniela. Santos expressed his humility and honor at having these renowned artists join him, noting that Alcasid and Valera are his idols and that Daniela is his contemporary in GMA.

Grateful is an apt title for his latest project, considering that he is still very much around after 18 years. He won the grand prize in GMA’s top-rating reality singing competition Pinoy Pop Superstar.

“I believe it is. Not everyone is given the chance to last long in the industry. I’m proud that I continue to weave magic through music, theater arts, and acting,” says the singer-actor.

Gerald is working on a new album for PolyEast Records. He expressed his enthusiasm for the project, mentioning it aligns with his goal of reinventing himself as an artist and reaching the Gen-Z market.

After doing the Denmark production of Miss Saigon, is he still open to projects abroad?

“Of course! I guess that’s part of our lives as artists. We go where there’s an opportunity for work. I will never forget my ‘Miss Saigon’ experience. For one, it taught me how to become independent and disciplined,” gerald responds.

Interestingly, one reason Gerald is grateful at present, apart from his career, is his love life.

“My relationship with my girlfriend Grace is going strong. I met her in New York, and since we became a couple, she’s been very supportive of my career.”

Can he say that she is the “one”?

“Yes, I can say she is. I’m not getting any younger,” ends Gerald.

Joshua Garcia is excited and nervous about being paired with Anne Curtis in the Philippine adaptation of the hit K-drama It’s Okay Not to Be Okay, produced by Star Creatives. He and the actress and TV host will bring to life the characters of popular Korean stars Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Ye Ji, respectively.

“I’m so honored to share the screen with Anne. Imagine, it’s her comeback soap after a decade, and I’m her leading man,” he stated during the series announcement.

Upon learning that he got cast in It’s Okay Not to Be Okay,  he started to watch episode one of the series where Kim Soo Hyun showed his abs.

“That’s why I went to the gym right away. That’s my preparation. But more than that, I guess it’s equally important that we are emotionally prepared. The story is quite sensitive,” he said.

The upcoming series is his first project with Anne, “And that’s what excites me. I know that I will learn a lot from Anne when we start with it.”
