Cops nab drug suspects, seize shabu worth P3.5m

Quezon provincial police personnel apprehended seven drug suspects and seized suspected shabu valued at more than P3.5 million during simultaneous operations over 24 hours across the province.

Col. Ledon Monte, director of the Quezon Provincial Police Office (QPPO), during a press briefing at Camp Vicente Lim in this city on Saturday, said his operatives confiscated a total of 176.41 grams of suspected shabu during six sting operations that began at 5 a.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday.

The confiscated illegal drugs are estimated to have a street value of P3,598,764.

Two of those arrested, identified only as “Janjan” and “Dennis,” are listed as high-value individuals (HVIs) in the Philippine National Police’s drug watchlist.

Most of the narcotics seized during the one-day dragnet, or 165 grams, were taken from the two when they were arrested in Lucena City.

The five other suspects were rounded up on lesser drug charges in separate operations in Lucena City and Sampaloc, Mauban, and Sariaya towns.

“The successful operations of our operatives signify our unwavering commitment to making Quezon province drug-free. Rest assured, we are steadfastly protecting sustainable peace and order against drug personalities who defy the law,” Monte said.

The suspects are now detained at the respective custodial facilities of the operating police units while drug charges are being readied against them.

The evidence has been handed over to the police forensic unit for examination.
