Comelec excludes over 4.2m voters from list

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) said it will delete the names of more than 4.2 million voters from the present voters list for failure to cast their ballots in two consecutive polls.

Comelec chairman George Garcia said the 4,239,483 deactivated voters will be delisted from the present total voters of 68 million.

Majority of the deactivated voters failed to participate in two consecutive regular elections, while 1,829 others were excluded by court order,  595 failed to validate their names, and three were delisted after they lost their Filipino citizenship.

Region 4-A has the most number of deactivated voters at  733,903 followed by Region 3 with 503,297 while in third is Region VI with 384,001.

RegionVII-366,968 , region V- 315,971, region VIII-251,501,  region I-247,682, region XI-218,515, region XII-210,798, while the National Capital Region has 104,238.

However, Garcia said deactivated voters  will be allowed to reactivate their voter’s registration by following the instructions in an email from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) that will be sent to the delisted voters.

Voter registration is ongoing until September 30.
