Authorities have rearrested another suspect in the shooting of Remate photojournalist Joshua Abiad at the Quezon City Hall of Justice.
The Quezon City Police District identified the suspect as 25-year-old Jomari Campillo, who was nabbed on Tuesday afternoon.
Campillo allegedly drove one of the motorbikes used by the gunmen, who shot Abiad and his relative on June 23, 2023.
He was apprehended based on an arrest warrant for three counts of frustrated murder issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 86.
Police previously arrested Campillo for illegal possession of firearms or violation of Republic Act 10591 on July 14, 2023. However, he was able to post bail for his provisional liberty.
Abiad, along with his family, was onboard their vehicle traversing along the corner of Corumi and Gasan Streets in Barangay Masambong when two unidentified car-riding men blocked their path and opened fire. Abiad’s nephew was killed, while some were injured.
