Newly designated Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and 25 other presidential appointees will undergo grilling by the congressional Commission on Appointments this month, Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel on Sunday said.
“We already have Secretary Cacdac’s appointment papers from Malacañang, together with the promotion papers of eight military generals and 17 career diplomats,” he said.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Cacdac as the Department of Migrant Workers head on April 25. He was appointed after his designation as officer-in-charge of the agency following the death of former secretary Susan Ople in August of last year.
Cacdac, previously serving as Undersecretary of the DMW, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Before his ad interim appointment in the Cabinet, he held key positions within various government agencies and the private sector.
Pimentel said he expects Cacdac and the other appointees to be vetted by the CA before Congress adjourns on May 25.
“We would encourage the public to send to the CA Secretariat any information, written report, or complaints or oppositions to the appointees,” he said.
