The FDCP further said that the collaboration was part of its efforts to promote the local film industry to the international film scene through the Philippine Embassies Assistance Program (PEAP).

“[The PEAP] aims to support Philippine Embassies and Consulates to organize film-related cultural activities for Filipinos based abroad,” the FDCP said in its post.

First hailed as a finalist of the council’s Sineng Pambansa – Ikalawang Yugto 2012, “Ang Babae sa Likod ng Mambabatok” is a documentary film that seeks to unravel the mysteries surrounding the 2018 Dangal ng Haraya awardee for Intangible Cultural Heritage Apo Whang-Od, the woman considered to be the “Last Traditional Tattoo Artist of Kalinga.”

Faustino’s documentary film has been highly regarded for its take on the multiple unexplored layers of Apo Whang Od’s fascinating life and has been featured in many film festivals such as Cinemalaya, Silk Road International Film Festival, Festival International du Film Insulaire de Groix, Festival del Cinema Filippino, Guanajuato International Film Festival, Cine Festival De Filipinas, and many others.

The special screening of the film will take place at the auditorium of the School of Arts and Humanities of Lisbon University on May 7.
