Ubas strikes gold in Singapore

Janry Ubas leapt to a height of 7.58 meters to win the men’s long jump gold on Friday in the ongoing 84th Singapore Open Athletics meet at the Singapore Sports Hub oval.

Ubas’ effort was far from his personal best, which is the national record-setting 8.08 meters which he did during the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.

Wen  Hua Yu of Chinese Taipei took the silver in 7.43 meters, while Singaporean Andrew Medina claimed the bronze in 7.26 meters.

Leonard Grospe settled for a silver medal in the men’s open high jump event of the ongoing 84th Singapore Open Athletics meet at the Singapore Sports Hub oval.

The 22-year old Grospe cleared 2.14 meters, to finish behind gold medallist Fu Hsao Hsuan of Taiwan, who leapt to a height of 2.22 meters.

Tsai Wei Chin made it a 1-2 ending for Taiwan when he earned the silver, after jumping to 2.18 meters.

Grospe, the current Philippine record holder, fell ix millimeters short of the new national mark of 2.20 meters, which he did last December during the Philippine National Games.
