Showbiz royalty Andres Muhlach aims to bring joy through his acting. Growing up in the entertainment industry, he now appreciates its impact on people and sees it as a means to connect with others.
It’s obvious that being an entertainer runs in his blood. He has paused his studies in Spain to focus on acting and he is finally venturing into showbiz. He said it’s been his dream to entertain people and make them smile. But who or what makes the 22-year-old heartthrob smile these days?
Speaking to Manila Standard Entertainment during a press conference held by Viva Artists Agency, he said that sports, specifically basketball, make him happy.
“Basketball makes me smile these days because the sport is also our family’s way to bond, especially with my dad. There are times when I have to convince them to watch my favorite team, the Phoenix Suns, play,” he said.
The charming Andres, who stands six-foot-two, has been playing the sport since childhood but admitted, “I’m not at a certain level to play professionally.”
Andres is officially entering showbiz by signing a contract with Viva Artists Agency. This was announced through a press conference held yesterday, attended by Viva’s top bosses Vincent del Rosario, Val del Rosario, and Veronique del Rosario-Corpus.
Andres is currently preparing for the TV5 sitcom Da Pers Family, where he will star alongside his parents Charlene Gonzalez and Aga Muhlach, as well as his twin sister Atasha. He’ll portray a baker’s son who opts for the family business over pursuing a career as an anime artist.
Andres is determined to establish his own identity in showbiz, beyond being recognized solely as Aga Muhlach’s son.
“It means a lot to me that you’ve taken the time to be with me today. This is my first solo press conference; I’m not with my family. I’m a bit nervous but I’m grateful to be able to do this. I’m excited,” he said.
When asked about his amiable demeanor in person or on social media, Andres credited his parents for teaching him kindness and amiability towards everyone.
“People often say I’m a nice person, which I owe to my parents who always stressed the importance of kindness. You never know what you can do for someone or what they can do for you in the future. I must give credit to them for teaching me to be considerate, humble, and nice to everyone,” he explained.
Regarding his parents’ involvement in the Da Pers Family, Andres shared, “Both my parents are very supportive. They provide tips and pointers, and at the end of the day, they’re always there for us. While we’ve collaborated in endorsements before, this experience will involve not only my family but also my closest friends.”
When asked about his impression of showbiz, Andres reflected on his childhood perceptions shaped by seeing his parents in the industry.
“Growing up, I didn’t fully comprehend the industry’s impact on people’s lives. But now, I truly want to be part of showbiz. I want to bring smiles to people’s faces; that’s what I enjoy doing,” Andress explained.
