Roquero leads Antique race for governor

SAN JOSE, Antique- Lakas-CMD member Ray Roquero is leading all other candidates for governor in the May 12, 2025, mid-term polls while incumbent Rep. Antonio Agapito Legarda Jr. of the lone district of Antique is on his way to a second term, according to a survey.

The Pulso ng Pilipino survey was conducted on March 16 to 18, 2024 by The Issues and Advocacy Center which covered some 1,134 respondents throughout the province.

The survey further said leading the senatorial race is ACT-CIS Party List Rep. Erwin Tulfo who led other candidates with 65 percent.

Senator Ronaldo dela Rosa is second with 53%, Senator Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go is third with 45%, former Senator Manny Pacquiao is in fourth with 43%, former Metro Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso is fifth with 42% and losing vice presidential candidate Francisco ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan is sixth with 41%.

Others who made it to the so-called Magic 12 include: Senator Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr. (7th, with39%), losing presidential candidate Maria Leonor ‘Leni’ Robredo sharing the eighth to 10th position with identical 37% with former Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson and Sen. Maria Imelda ‘Imee’ Marcos

The survey was limited only to the province’s registered voters with ages ranging from 18 years old to 65 years old and above covering all the socio-economic classes.

The Pulso ng Pilipino survey used the multi-stage, area probability sampling (MSAP) which is the standard norm used by all the established research organizations in most countries.

Other forms of pre-poll surveys, particularly online surveys cannot compare to the accuracy and science of the MSAP. Selective interviews were conducted considering the demographic requirements such as gender, age and socio-eco classification as the main considerations

To add to the authenticity of the Pulso ng Pilipino pre-poll survey, the results were checked back at random by the Team Leader and cross-checked with the so-called Listening Posts (LPs) which is a safety net designed by The Center to ensure the authenticity of the results.

In the vice gubernatorial race, Sangguniang Panlalawigan and vlogger Carmela Dimamay led other rivals with 480 votes or 42.3%. Another Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Dr. Mayelle Plameras is in second with 375 or 33.1%, Antique Liga ng mga Barangay President Nonoy Tajanlangit is third with 177 or 15.6% and Outgoing Provincial Board Member Pio Sumande with 84 or 7.4%
In the congressional race for the lone district of Antique, the Pulso ng Pilipino survey shows a close fight between incumbent Rep. Antonio Agapito Legarda Jr. and outgoing Provincial Gov. Dodod Cadiao although Legarda currently enjoys a comfortable 12-point lead over Cadiao, 627 or 55.3% to the 495 respondents who voted for Cadiao for 43.7%.

The Pulso ng Pilipino also tallied the preferences for the mid-term senatorial elections next year and from the showcard that were shown to the respondents containing 50 possible candidates, seven of whom are reelectionists. The respondents were asked to list up to 12 names in the list of senatorial candidates.
