Ayala Corp. was fourth with 5.58-percent share equivalent to 1,380 MW and Manila Electric Co. was fifth with 5.4-percent share and installed capacity of 1,380 MW.

The ERC said all persons and entities covered by the market share limitation per grid and national grid should strictly adhere to the limitations set by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001.

The ERC issued Resolution No. 2 Series of 2023 declaring the installed generating capacity and MSL per grid and national grid.

It set the MSL to 30 percent for the Luzon grid at 5,388 MW, Visayas grid at 30 percent at 1,025 MW and Mindanao grid at 30 percent of 1,256 MW.

It set the MSL for the national grid at 25 percent or 6,391.8 MW.

The ERC sets the IGC and MSL annually. It may be adjusted as necessary, based on the maximum capacity of generation facilities.

The ERC said that with its strong commitment to promoting free and fair market competition, and pursuant to its mandate under the EPIRA, it ensures that no company or related group would own, operate or control more than 30 percent of the IGC of a grid and/or 25 percent of the national IGC.
