BINI’s music takes over Spotify

P-Pop group BINI continues to solidify its claim as the “Nation’s Girl Group” with a massive achievement on Spotify.

Just days after releasing its debut EP (extended play) Talaarawan, BINI’s monthly listener count on the streaming platform has surpassed an impressive one million users.

This milestone comes hot on the heels of the group’s successful single “Pantropiko,” which garnered over six million streams, peaked at #3 on Spotify Philippines Viral Chart, and even debuted at #38 on the Global Viral Chart. The song’s vibrant energy sparked a dance trend on TikTok, capturing the attention of global K-Pop stars like Irene of Red Velvet and Ryujin of ITZY.

Members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena tackle the youth’s perspective on friendship, love, and navigating through life in their first mini album that features six songs including “Salamin, Salamin,” “Ang Huling Cha Cha,” “Na Na Nandito Lang,” “Diyan Ka Lang,” and their recent hits “Karera” and “Pantropiko.”

“We are very excited about releasing our first EP because we want our supporters to feel like they have a diary they can turn to about anything because that’s the bond we have with them. It’s an open communication,” Jhoanna shared during a press conference for their record.

Its key track “Salamin, Salamin” produced by Mat Olavides and Bojam of FlipMusic captures the feeling of daydreaming about a potential crush.

The group formally released their highly anticipated EP on International Women’s Day (March 8) to align with their advocacy on women empowerment.

“Our advocacy is also women empowerment. We always want to inspire women, and not just women but we want to make sure that people feel confident in their own skin. That’s why I think that March 8 is the perfect date,” Mikha shared in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

The group also surprised their fans during the Talaarawan EP media conference held last Wednesday with the announcement of their first solo concert happening on June 28 at the New Frontier Theater.

Grateful and hopeful for the song’s success, Johanna said, “We released it in November and ‘Pantropiko’ is a summer song. But we feel like the timing was perfect because it topped the charts while summer was approaching, so hopefully, this momentum continues,” Jhoanna said.
