People take part in a demonstration supporting the Palestinian people, in Mexico City on Sunday. The health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza said at least 28,858 people have been killed in the territory during the war between Palestinian militants and Israel. The war was triggered by Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel, which resulted in the deaths of around 1,160 people. Mediator Qatar acknowledged prospects for a new pause in Israel’s war with Hamas were ‘not really promising’ as Israel rejected appeals to hold off on a threatened assault on the Gaza city of Rafah.
