Physics and arts seem to be unrelated. But if you look closely, you’ll see the interconnectedness of science and arts.
Take, for instance, the ongoing exhibit at the Gallery C of Conrad Manila, titled Paracosm, featuring kinaesthetic artworks by artist Ivan Co.
The artist employs gravity and balance to create 10 kinetic and mesmerizing sculptures for the 28th edition of Conrad’s highly acclaimed Of Art and Wine series,
Using semi-precious gems and metals as materials, the alluring art pieces conjure grandeur, elegance, and wisdom, evoking serenity and peace for those watching these pieces move.
“All of human creation and concepts have been born in part from the depths of human imagination, and molded into being through creativity and ingenuity. Imagination is arguably the most powerful and influential aspect of our consciousness,” said Co.
He shared that the swiveling pieces came from that innate calling to think, explore, and create outside the limits of what the eyes can see.
“As I have created and forged complex worlds in intricate detail, I found moments of solace and respite from reality. I invite you to do the same – to enter and peer into a new world and find your path to paracosm – as therein lies your grandest version and your greatest power,” he enthused.
Introducing the complex and richly detailed imaginary world created by the artist, Paracosm aims to create art that has never been seen before, as well as to constantly allow evolution to transpire in each piece.
Artist hopes to immerse the audience not only through their participation in the movement of the pendulums but by also enthralling them in a different world while inspiring and motivating the audience to, pursue higher ideals and a more purposeful and awakened existence.
“Conrad Manila aims to start the year remarkably strong with this unique and marvelous roster of artworks, as we strengthen and elevate our commitment to provide our patrons with touches of luxury and splendor this 2024,” said Conrad Manila general manager Fabio Berto.
“These are best exemplified in Ivan Co’s artistic mastery, which has also brought pride to the country, being the only Filipino invited to be featured in The Official Platinum Jubilee Edition book to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign,” added the hotel executive.
The exhibit opened recently with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting. Gracing the events were Elizabeth Sy, President, SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC); Peggy Angeles, Executive Vice President, SMHCC; Fabio Berto, General Manager, Conrad Manila; and Larry Chan, H.C., Guest of Honor.
