Loyalty is a trait that deserves recognition and appreciation.

In the fast-paced world of journalism, where news cycles are constantly changing, staying loyal to a single newspaper is truly commendable.

For nearly four decades, Manila Standard has been delivering reliable news and insightful commentary.

It is through the dedicated employees and their unwavering support that Manila Standard continues to thrive in an ever-evolving media landscape.

As we commemorate our anniversary this year, we wish to honor the dedicated individuals, who have been part of our team for many years.

That’s why we are proud to highlight the loyalty awardees of Manila Standard, whose contributions have been instrumental in shaping our present success, and their message of hope for the newspaper.

Here they are.

“For 37 years,

Manila Standard has always been balanced in terms of delivering news. Whenever we get (the bosses) to talk, we want the paper to maintain its integrity. We always try to be balanced to maintain the goodwill. And that’s what makes the Standard last in the industry.”

Anita Grefal, Operations Head

30 Years

“Together, we have overcome obstacles, embraced innovation, and met expectations. As we celebrate our years of achievements, let us also look forward with optimism and determination. Happy 37th Anniversary!”

Guillerson Alanguilan, Website Administrator

25 Years

“Working for more than two-and-a-half decades with the Manila Standard is truly an inspiring experience. To our Publisher and Editor in Chief, Sir Rolly Estabillo, and to all MS staff, thank you for your guidance and support. Happy 37th anniversary and a heartfelt thanks to all of us and looking forward to many more years of working together.”

Vito Barcelo Jr., News Reporter

“I’m grateful to be part of this company, and I’m thankful that Manila Standard recognizes my work over the years. I lasted here because my other workers and bosses are all nice and accommodating, making me feel at home—they’ve become my family throughout the years.“

Luzviminda Jimenez, Layout Artist

“Being part of the newspaper world hasn’t always been easy. Deadlines always loom with nervous anticipation, unexpected issues like internet crashes and computer shutdowns throw us curveballs, but somehow, we always emerged stronger. The camaraderie and resilience I experienced are memories I’ll cherish forever. You, Manila Standard, have been more than just a workplace; you’ve been a source of growth, guidance, and countless friendships. May you continue to be kind, generous, and strong, nurturing the loyal and hardworking individuals who form your core.”

Maria Victoria Ayeng, Supervisor, Layout Section

“Silver is not the color of the year, but I’m no greenhorn. So, silver it is for me, this year. And, today I celebrate my company, Manila Standard, and myself for lasting this long. Half my life was spent in a company that I both love and hate. Many times, I thought of quitting, when doing back-bending stunts for a story. But duty prevails. It always does. Big thanks to the women and men, whom I’ve worked with in the last 25 years. I also throw in my appreciation for former bosses and mentors, the late Butch del Castillo and Ray Eñano. They kept me on my toes. And to the company that has shaped my future as a business journalist, another 37 years of excellent news reporting.”

Rochelle Campos, Business Reporter

“Congratulations to Manila Standard for making it this far. It’s so happy to witness that many are still patronizing the newspaper both online and in print. More power!”

Randy Lumacang, Production Superintendent

“Half my life I have spent with the Manila Standard. This is literally where I grew up as a journalist. It is home and its people are family to me. I hope we continue the daily miracle of telling stories that matter, of making sense of information, of catching typos (fingers-crossed!) before the newspaper goes to bed for another 37 years and beyond.”
